The pass rate for this year’s Dhaka University entrance exam is about 10%. What we have done to the next generation is a disaster. But there is no one to blame. My individual band scores were Listening: 8.5; Reading: 8.5; Speaking: 7.5 and Writing: 7. What is your target?

ঘড়ির কাটায় রাত সাড়ে ৯টা। বাইরে আকাশ ভেঙ্গে বৃষ্টি নেমেছে। চারিদিক অন্ধকার। ইয়াকুব সাহেব প্রচন্ড অবাক হয়ে দেখলেন লুনা এই প্রবল বৃষ্টির মধ্যে উঠোনে দাঁড়িয়ে ভিজছে। মেয়েকে ডাকতে যেয়েও তিনি থেমে গেলেন। একটা কণ্ঠ তার মাথার মধ্যে বলে গেল ‘বাবা আমি ঠিক পনের মিনিট পরে উঠে আসবো। তুমি ভিতরে যেয়ে দাবার বোর্ডের কাছে যাও। ফিশার সাহেব খুব গভীর জলের মাছ। সে মন্ত্রী বির্সজন দিয়ে মিখাইল তালের নৌকাকে রাজার কাছ থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে নিয়ে গেল। একটু পরেই দেখবে দুই হাতি আর নৌকা নিয়ে সে কিস্তিমাত করে দেবে’। এই ঠান্ডার মধ্যেও ইয়াকুব সাহেব ঘেমে গেলেন। তিনি স্পষ্ট বুঝতে পারলেন এই কণ্ঠ আর কারো নয়। তার অতি আদরের বড় মেয়ে লুনার…..
